Popular singer and activist, Charly Boy, has shown his support for President Bola Tinubu’s decision over fuel subsidy removal.
Newspread had reported that the controversial celebrity had earlier shaded Tinubu over the decision, stating that the President “don Break Record Within 24 Hours after Sworn-In,” as there was an increase in the cost of petrol and a scarcity after the announcement.
The surging new pump price of fuel as a result of the subsidy removal has also sparked a nationwide outrage.
Currently, several parts of the country charge more than N500 per litre of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS).
However, in response to the controversy surrounding the development, Charly Boy, an ardent fan of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the most recent election, applauded the removal and asserted that there is no better time than this.
The singer expressed his opinion in a tweet via his Twitter account, saying that the fight goes beyond backing his preferred candidate and focuses on alleged criminal groups disrupting the country’s economy.
Sharing a video of Okonjo Iweala speaking on fuel subsidy removal, Charly Boy tweeted, “Listen and be informed. Okonjo Iweala bares it all on the subsidy removal. There can be no other time, and the time is NOW.
“My fellow Nigerians this fight is really not about Obi. It’s about the criminals who insist on stealing our national patrimony leaving us poor and hopeless”.
