Rev. Fr Jeremiah Yakubu, the parish priest of Holy Trinity Kauru, abducted by terrorists in the state has regained his freedom barely 24hours after his abduction.
Fr. Yakubu was abducted around 11pm on Sunday, from the parish rectory at Kauru, a local government area in southern Kaduna.
In a recent development, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Okolo, the archivist of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, who broke the news of the priest’s abduction has also announced his release.
The priest who was filled with joy while speaking with newsmen in Kaduna said the abducted priest was released on Monday evening.
He took time to thank all those who offered prayers and entreaties for the speedy release of the Priest and enjoined them to continue to pray for the release of others still held hostage by kidnappers.
The archivist further disclosed that all Priests have been directed to kindly celebrate Mass of Thanksgiving to God on Tuesday, thanking him for the swift release of the abducted priest.
It is unclear whether ransom was paid to facilitate the priest release.
