Damini Ogulu, an award-winning musician, popularly known as Burna Boy, has shared his sentiments about how a lot of Nigerians do not think he is at par with American music icons.
He revealed this in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times.
The self-acclaimed “African Giant” claimed that his upcoming album, “I Told Them,” is his sarcastic response to critics who have sought to undermine him throughout his career.
The Afrobeats star lamented that Nigerians frequently regarded American rappers in their “up and coming” stages as superior to him.
Many Nigerians, he claimed, can name an American artiste who has only recently begun their career and claims to be bigger than Burna Boy. But they do not comprehend it as they argue that someone who talks like him cannot possibly be on par with an American artist.
However, Burna Boy asserted that the popularity of Afrobeats had made American music less prevalent on the playlists of Nigerian media outlets.
