Biola Adebesin, who specialises in breaking into churches and stealing from them has been arrested and paraded by men of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps).
The suspect, who operates in Baba Ode and Iju communities in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state was apprehended on Thursday after stealing from three churches including the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Onibuku; Cherubim and Seraphim, Baba Ode; and Stronghold Ministry.
The suspect who was transporting his loot comprising of two Yamaha keyboards, one mixer engine, a decoder, accessories, one Tecno Android and small Bontel phones took to his heels when accosted by operatives of So-Safe Corps, but later apprehended in his hide out.
A Monday statement issued by Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, on behalf of Soji Ganzallo, Commander of the Corps, reads:
“At about 04:30hrs on the 18th of January, 2024, the officers of the Corps on routine patrol engaged in a face-to-face battle with the suspect carrying heavy load on his head in Baba Ode community.
“He was stopped for questioning by the officer of the So-Safe Corps, but he dropped the load and took to his heel.
“Having marked his face, the suspect was later traced to a hotel he normally lodges and was rearrested at about 08:00hrs.
“The load the suspect dropped was discovered to be an exhibit which contained two Yamaha keyboards, one mixer engine, decoder, accessories, one Tecno Android, and small Bontel phones.
“The suspect has also made a confessional statement that the exhibit were stolen from one Redeem Christian Church of God, Onibuku, Cherubim and Seraphim, Baba Ode and Stronghold Ministry”.
As at the time of filing this report, the suspect has been handed over to the police at Onipaanu Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
