The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Alaiyeluwa Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, GCON, on being named as Amir-ul-Mulukin (Amīr-ul-Mulūk-il-Muslimīn) by the League of Imams and Alfas of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states.
A statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Austin Oniyokor, quoted the State Chairman, Hon. (Dr.) Sikirulai Ogundele as saying that the honour is a fitting recognition of the immense contributions of the Awujale to promoting religious harmony, and particularly the advancement of Islam.
The statement reads in part, “On behalf of the leaders, elders and teeming members of the PDP in Ogun State, I, Hon. (Dr.) Sikirulai Ogundele, the State Chairman heartily rejoice with the highly revered royal father, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Alaiyeluwa Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, GCON, on the occasion of his installation as the Amir-ul-Mulukin of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states by the League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states.
“The recognition is fitting recognition of the immense contributions of the Awujale to promoting religious harmony, particularly the growth and advancement of Islam in Yorubaland and beyond.
“We pray that the Almighty Allah will continue to keep Kabiyesi and grant him many more years in sound health and service to humanity.”
The League of Imams and Alfas Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states will hold its maiden conference from Monday, October 7 to Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
The Conference with the theme “Strengthening Islamic Unity and Progress in Yoruba Land” will culminate in the installation that will hold at the Awujale Palace, Ijebu Ode, on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 by 2.00 pm.
