Keyamo commissions E-Gates, CNG buses at Lagos airport

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN) accompanied by the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, on Friday commissioned the newly installed E-gates at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

The project, funded by the UBA Group through a Public-Private Partnership with FAAN, is aimed at enhancing passenger facilitation and strengthening security at the airport.

In addition to the E-gates, the minister and the FAAN leadership unveiled newly acquired Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) airport transit buses. These buses, equipped with accessibility features for persons with disabilities, align with the Federal Government’s CNG initiative under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking at the event, Keyamo commended the UBA Group for their partnership in advancing the aviation sector and emphasized the administration’s commitment to adopting innovative solutions to improve airport operations. Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, MD of FAAN, reiterated FAAN’s dedication to providing world-class facilities and services across Nigeria’s airports.

These initiatives underscore the Ministry’s and FAAN’s focus on modernizing infrastructure, enhancing passenger experience, and promoting sustainable transportation solutions within the aviation sector.

During the ceremony, the MD of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, also presented the Honourable Minister with the recertification of both Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
