The Ogun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has commiserated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), the good people of Sagamu/Ikenne/Remo North Federal Constituency, the House of Representatives, the government and people of the state over the death of the Deputy Chief Whip of House of Representatives, Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga.
The lawmaker passed away yesterday after a brief illness. She was 59 years old.
A condolence message issued in Abeokuta on Thursday by the Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Austin Oniyokor, quoted the State Chairman, Dr. (Hon.) Sikirulai Ogundele as saying that, “The leadership and entire members of the Ogun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) received the news of the sudden passing of Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, with shock.
“She represented one of the best that our dear Ogun State had to offer the House of Representatives and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Although she represented the good people of Sagamu/Ikenne/Remo North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Onanuga’s activities in the House of Representatives transcended her immediate constituency.
“As an opposition party, we monitored her activities and found her worthy of her election in 2019, re-election in 2023 and position as Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives.
“Realising that life is a stage where we all act our part and leave, we pray that the Almighty God will grant the loving soul of Rt. Hon. Onanuga eternal rest and comfort members of her immediate family, political associates and loved ones.”
