The Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, has announced the appointment of Dr. Chinenye Gloria Okeke as the institution’s new substantive Registrar.
Her appointment, which takes effect from Monday, August 18, 2025, was ratified at the end of the 18th Emergency Meeting of the Governing Council on Friday. The announcement was made by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, Barrister Olugbenga Kukoyi.
Dr. Okeke, who will serve a single five-year term, has spent her entire career at UNIZIK, steadily rising through the ranks since joining the university as an Administrative Assistant in 2002.
She became an Administrative Officer in 2005, and later an Assistant Registrar in 2008 at the Admissions Unit. She went on to serve as Senior Assistant Registrar (2011–2014), Principal Assistant Registrar (2014–2016), and Faculty Administrative Officer at the Faculty of Engineering (2016–2019).
In July 2019, she was promoted to Deputy Registrar, serving across various units including the Continuing Education Programme, Admissions Unit, and most recently, the University Senate.
Born on May 31, 1978, Dr. Okeke holds a B.Sc. in Government/Public Administration from Abia State University, Uturu (1999); an M.Sc. in Public Administration from UNIZIK (2006); and a Ph.D. in Public Administration, with a specialization in Public Policy Analysis, also from UNIZIK (2018).
A native of Igboukwu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, Dr. Okeke is married and blessed with four children.
