Kwankwaso reaffirms loyalty to NNPP amid defection rumors

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano, has firmly rejected rumors regarding his potential defection, reiterating his commitment to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). During a national executive committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday, Kwankwaso expressed confidence in the party’s performance in Kano and other states.

As the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Kwankwaso addressed attendees who were eager for clarity following speculation about his future with the NNPP. “Let me take this opportunity to tell you that we have our party, and we are comfortable. We are happy. We are ready to do whatever it takes because we are not in a hurry,” he stated.

He emphasized that any discussions regarding the 2027 general election would be made collectively, underscoring his belief in party supremacy. “If there will be any negotiation, it will be collective. It will not be only for the negotiators but for the entire members of this NNPP family,” he explained.

Kwankwaso also reassured party members that no one within the Kwankwasia movement or the NNPP is currently considering leaving. He advised against being influenced by the trend of politicians changing allegiances, suggesting that those curious about internal matters should seek guidance from party leaders.
