Lagos resumes monthly environmental sanitation exercise April 25

The Lagos State Government has announced the resumption of its monthly environmental sanitation exercise beginning Saturday, April 25, 2026, as part of efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier environment across the state.

The exercise, which will hold on the last Saturday of every month from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., was highlighted during a sanitation and sensitisation drive held along Agege Motor Road.

At the event, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, led a cleanup exercise while urging residents to take responsibility for maintaining a clean environment.

The governor emphasised that environmental sanitation remains a shared duty and called on citizens to support government efforts aimed at improving public health and reducing flooding in the state.

In a statement, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said residents are expected to participate actively in the monthly exercise.

“I am pleased to inform all Lagosians that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise will resume effective Saturday, April 25, 2026, holding on the last Saturday of every month from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.,” Wahab said.

He urged residents to clean their surroundings, clear drainage channels in front of their homes and properly dispose of waste during the exercise.
According to him, the sanitation drive is a collective responsibility and a key component of the state government’s strategy to achieve a cleaner, healthier and flood-resilient Lagos.

Wahab added that the exercise would be backed by strict enforcement by the Lagos State Government to ensure compliance by residents.
