A Nigerian man identified as Herbert has been found dead in his apartment in Thornaby, United Kingdom, just days after mourning the loss of his father in Nigeria.

According to reports shared by a social media user, Herbert, a husband and father of three young children, died suddenly in his sleep last week. His passing came on the same day his late father was being buried in Nigeria, a situation relatives described as deeply tragic.

Family sources revealed that Herbert had been under emotional and financial strain after contributing significantly to his father’s burial, despite being unable to travel home for the funeral.

The situation was made even more distressing as his children reportedly discovered his lifeless body in the apartment while their mother was away.

Herbert is survived by his wife and three children, the youngest aged eight. His family has since appealed for financial assistance to cover funeral expenses and the cost of repatriating his remains to Nigeria.

A community leader among Nigerians in the UK also confirmed the incident and called for support for the bereaved family. A fundraising effort is currently ongoing, with contributions being sought from the public to help ease the family’s burden.

The incident comes shortly after the death of another UK-based Nigerian, a mother of three who passed away following a battle with breast cancer earlier in the month.
