Oba Femi stuns Lesnar in dominant five-minute WrestleMania debut

Nigerian wrestling sensation Oba Femi made a remarkable statement on his WrestleMania debut, defeating 10-time champion Brock Lesnar in under five minutes at WrestleMania 42 on Sunday.

The high-profile clash quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the night, as the 27-year-old overpowered the veteran in a decisive fashion. In a symbolic post-match gesture, Lesnar left his wrestling gear in the ring—often seen in professional wrestling as a signal of retirement.

Femi, nicknamed “The Ruler,” showed early resilience as both competitors tested each other’s strength. Although Lesnar briefly gained the upper hand with a series of attacks, Femi absorbed the pressure and turned the tide with a commanding comeback.

The match reached its climax after Lesnar delivered his trademark F5, only for Femi to recover swiftly, execute a chokeslam, and seal victory with his “Fall From Grace” sit-out powerbomb.

Born Isaac Odugbesan in Lagos, Femi’s rise has been rapid. He joined WWE in 2021 through its NIL programme and built his reputation in NXT, where he became a two-time champion and held the North American title. His achievements include winning the 2023 NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament and the 2024 Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge.

Standing at 6’4” and weighing about 310 pounds, the former shot put athlete used his size and athleticism to full effect, marking his arrival on WWE’s biggest stage with authority.

Following the bout, Femi energized fans further by calling out Roman Reigns, hinting at a possible title challenge later this year. His victory has since sparked excitement among Nigerians, with many anticipating an even bigger run at the top of WWE.
