Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso have formally joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The two political heavyweights were received into the opposition party on Sunday at its national secretariat in Abuja, marking a major development in the country’s evolving political landscape.
Their move follows Obi’s earlier announcement of his exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while Kwankwaso had also signalled his intentions through what he described as “wide-ranging consultations” with the NDC.
