Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has pushed back against President Bola Tinubu’s repeated claim that he was solely responsible for Muhammadu Buhari’s 2015 presidential victory.
Amaechi said he played a central role in Buhari’s emergence, stressing that he led the political mobilisation and nationwide campaign efforts that secured victory for the APC.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Amaechi said several political actors contributed to the formation of the APC and Buhari’s eventual success at the polls.
“I was the DG of the campaign and I did all the battle,” he said, adding that he crisscrossed the country as chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum to build support for Buhari.
He also admitted that while the APC government achieved progress in some areas under the “change” agenda, expectations were not fully met in others.
