The family of late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has announced plans for his burial following his death after battling advanced metastatic kidney cancer at the age of 40.

In a statement shared on the actor’s Instagram page on Monday, the family said the funeral activities will begin with a service of songs in Lagos before proceeding to Abia State for the wake, funeral service and interment.

According to the statement signed by Mazi Alex Oji Ekubo Okwaraeke on behalf of the family, mourners are expected to wear white during the burial rites.

The service of songs is scheduled for June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos, while the wake and funeral ceremonies will hold on June 17 and 18 in Arochukwu, Abia State.

The family thanked friends, colleagues, fans and well-wishers for their prayers, support and messages since the actor’s passing, describing him as a man whose life was filled with love, generosity, faith and laughter.

They also called on the public to continue praying for his wife and the entire family as they prepare to honour his life and legacy.
