APC restricts ministers, appointees to home-state rallies

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has directed ministers, political appointees and members of its campaign council to attend only campaign rallies organised in their respective states ahead of the 2027 general election.

The directive was contained in a circular signed by the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari.

According to the circular, the decision is aimed at ensuring effective coordination, grassroots mobilisation and wider communication of President Bola Tinubu’s achievements to voters.

The council directed ministers and other political appointees to concentrate their mobilisation efforts on their polling units, wards and local government areas, in line with the campaign’s “pyramid concept”.

“Ministers and other political appointees are required to attend only the rallies held in their home states. This is to ensure targeted coordination and implementation of campaign activities,” the circular stated.

It also instructed directorates without specific assignments at the rallies to focus on implementing their approved work plans and budgets.

On the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Yari directed members, except the national chairman, national secretary, national women leader, national youth leader and national organising secretary, to concentrate on party activities and mobilisation in their respective states and geopolitical zones.

However, NWC members are also expected to attend rallies organised in their home states.

The campaign council further said it would use the rallies to boost the visibility of APC candidates seeking election into state assemblies, the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Yari urged directors to ensure that all officers under their respective directorates were informed of the directive and complied with its provisions.
