In a recent episode of “Tea with Tay” podcast, Nollywood actress Ini Edo spoke out against spreading myths that women in the industry earn more money than their male counterparts by engaging in prostitution and sleeping with men for money.

Edo described the narrative as a depressing conversation and emphasized her displeasure with the detrimental effects it had on the industry’s development.

She claims that the majority of those pushing the narratives work in the entertainment industry.

She said: “This is such a sad conversation; this is such a sad conversation considering that I hear this narrative coming from people in the same industry.

“I’m like these are the issues; this is why people don’t grow. This is why as a community; we are struggling because we are our own problems.”

The actress continued by highlighting the negative impacts of demeaning one another and opposing progress in the field.

“We are the ones tearing each other down. We are the ones clamoring for change but we are the ones rejecting it. It’s just like you are eating yourself.”

She used herself as an example, claiming that she had faced criticism for purchasing her second car in 2006.

Ini Edo claims that despite working hard and consistently for six years, some questioned how she could afford the car she bought.
