Barbadian singer and businesswoman, Rihanna, performed her most recent hit, “Lift Me Up,” on Sunday night at the Oscars’ 95th Academy Awards.
The song, which featured in the film “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” is a homage to the late actor Chadwick Boseman.
Rihanna sang the song with a band and standing on a grassy platform while wearing a babydoll top studded with diamonds, black pants, and leather gloves.
Tems, Ryan Coogler, composer Ludwig Göransson, and Rihanna co-wrote the power ballad, which marks the singer’s debut single after a prolonged break. Tems and Coogler wrote the lyrics.
Rihanna received her first-ever Oscar nomination for the song, which was up for best original song.
Although “Naatu Naatu” from “RRR” won the award in the end, Rihanna’s performance was one of the Oscars’ most memorable moments and received a standing ovation from the crowd, including her superfan boyfriend A$AP Rocky.
Her most recent live performance since the 2018 Grammys was her halftime performance at the Super Bowl.
