Actor Murphy Afolabi to be buried today at Ikorodu residence

Late Nollywood actor, Murphy Afolabi, is to be buried today at his home in Ikorodu, Lagos. His body has since been moved from Isolo General hospital morgue to Ikorodu.

The Osogbo-born actor, who had celebrated his 49th birthday on the 5th of May, three weeks ago, had died after he slumped in his bathroom on Sunday.

Yusuf Lateef, the family head of Afolabi’s family compound in Osogbo called Fetuata, confirmed the burial plans during in an interview with journalists. He said the actor would be buried later today.

“We were initially planning to bury him here in Osogbo but his children insisted he should be buried in Lagos, where he resides with his family. We will be sending representatives to Lagos today,” he said.

Meanwhile, Murufudeen Lawal, the Osun Governor of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), who was at the Afolabi family compound in Osun to offer condolences, said that the actor’s death is a significant loss to the Yoruba movie industry.

According to reports, the deceased actor was getting ready for the premiere of Alani Omo Iya Osogbo, his most recent film.

The remains of the actor are about now being buried.
