The office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has been unsealed by the sergeant-at-arms of the National Assembly after months of closure.
Her office, located in suite 2.05 of the senate wing, had remained locked since her suspension on March 6, 2025.
In a 25-second video shared on Tuesday, Alabi Adedeji, deputy director of the sergeant-at-arms, was seen peeling off the red seal and announcing:
“I, Alabi Adedeji, deputy director, sergeant-at-arms, hereby unseal the office. The office is hereby unsealed. Thank you.”
It remains unclear whether the move restores Akpoti-Uduaghan’s full access to her office and the National Assembly complex, as the Senate has yet to issue a resolution on her status.
On September 9, the lawmaker was barred from resuming legislative duties, with the National Assembly insisting her suspension is still tied up in litigation.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended for six months in March over alleged breaches of Senate rules. However, on July 4, a Federal High Court ruled the suspension excessive and unconstitutional.
Despite the ruling, the National Assembly management has maintained that the senator cannot return to her duties without either a fresh Senate resolution or a definitive court order.
