Prominent business executive and socialite Aisha Achimugu has reportedly declared a hunger strike while in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Circumstances of Arrest
Achimugu was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, despite having informed the court that she would voluntarily appear before the EFCC. Her legal team claims the arrest was contrary to the rule of law.

Allegations
The EFCC had declared Achimugu wanted in March 2025 over allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.
