‘Anambra on the rise’ – Tinubu assures progress, partnership during state visit

President Bola Tinubu embarked on a state visit to Anambra State, marking a notable occasion filled with promises of progress and partnership. Addressing a warm crowd in Awka, the president expressed his delight in returning to the state two years after his election campaign.

In his opening remarks, President Tinubu acknowledged the rich cultural and economic heritage of Anambra, reiterating the state’s pivotal role in Nigeria’s development. “Anambra has long stood as a beacon of commerce, intellect, and cultural strength,” he said, emphasizing the state’s reputation as a source of pride for both the Southeast and the entire nation.

The president highlighted his ongoing collaboration with Anambra Governor Charles Soludo, affirming their dedication to fostering prosperity for the region. “From what I have seen and heard, it is evident that a solid foundation is being laid, and Anambra is indeed on the rise. Together, we can fast-track a vision for Anambra that rivals global icons,” he stated.

During the visit, President Tinubu commissioned two notable projects: the Solution Fun City and the Government House mini-city. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to realize the ambitious goal of transforming Anambra into a continental hub akin to “African-Dubai-Taiwan-Silicon Valley.”

The president commended the Anambra State Government for its proactive security measures and pledged the Federal Government’s continued support in ensuring safety and stability in the region. He acknowledged various challenges facing the state, including environmental issues such as gully erosion and flooding, calls for the activation of the Onitsha River port, and the urgent need for infrastructure development. He expressed his commitment to partnering with state officials to address these critical issues.

Tinubu reaffirmed the strength of the nation’s economy under his administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” noting successful reforms that have stabilized the financial landscape. He applauded Anambra for implementing the new minimum wage above federal standards, signifying a commitment to uplifting the working class.

Before concluding his address, Tinubu expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the people of Anambra, particularly honoring his accession to a chieftaincy title by the traditional rulers of the state. “I am now a bona fide son of the soil—a part of you, your own son!” he proclaimed, humorously suggesting he might need a plot of land for his retirement home.

The president’s visit ended on a hopeful note, with affirmations of unity and mutual progress: “It is well with Anambra State! It is well with Nigeria!! God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

This visit marks a significant moment in strengthening the connection between the federal government and the Southeast, paving the way for collaborative efforts towards the region’s growth and development.
