APC rolls out 2027 primary election schedule, presidential form costs ₦100m

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially released its timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections, outlining key dates for party primaries, screening exercises, appeals, and the sale of nomination forms.

The schedule, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, and made public by National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, details the sequence of internal election processes across all levels of elective offices, including State Houses of Assembly, the National Assembly, governorship, and the presidency.

According to the timetable, activities commence with the official notice of election to state chapters, followed by the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. The deadline for submission of completed forms and supporting documents will precede screening exercises for all aspirants.

The screening process will cover all major elective positions, including State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, governorship, and presidential aspirants. Publication of screening results and subsequent appeals are also scheduled within the party’s outlined timeline.

Party primaries are expected to hold in phases, beginning with legislative positions and culminating in the governorship and presidential primaries. The APC also scheduled appeal processes for all categories of primaries to address disputes arising from the exercise.

The party further disclosed the cost of nomination and expression of interest forms across different offices. House of Assembly aspirants are expected to pay ₦6 million in total, House of Representatives ₦9 million, Senate ₦20 million, governorship ₦50 million, and presidential aspirants ₦100 million.

However, the party stated that female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities will enjoy a 50 per cent reduction on nomination fees, in addition to payment of only expression of interest fees for their respective positions.

The APC said the timetable reflects its commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and credible candidate selection ahead of the 2027 general elections.
