Army chief orders troops to flush Out Bandits in Kwara, Niger

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede, has directed troops to flush out bandits terrorizing residents in Baruten and Kaiama Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Kwara State.

Oluyede spoke during a visit to the 22 Armoured Brigade in Ilorin, the state capital.

One-Month Ultimatum
The COAS representative gave the troops one month to recover all areas in Baruten, Kaiama, and other parts of Kainji forest in Niger State from the bandits. He emphasized that the army would not allow insurgency to spread to the North-Central region.

Protecting Territorial Integrity
Oluyede stressed that it is the responsibility of the Nigerian Army to protect the country’s territorial integrity and ensure that no part of the territory is taken over by insurgents.

Welfare of Troops
The COAS representative also promised better welfare, feeding, education, and hospital facilities for members of the armed forces. He expressed his desire to see soldiers’ children become professionals in various fields.
