The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has denied reports suggesting a lengthy concession period for the Enugu International Airport.
In a statement in Monday, the ministry described the reports as “utterly baseless and untrue.”
Concession Process Underway
The ministry confirmed that the Federal Government is considering proposals for the concession of five major airports, including the Akanu Ibian International Airport Enugu.
The process aims to ensure these facilities meet international standards and reduce the financial burden on the government.
Evaluation Process Ongoing
The ministry stated that prospective concessionaires have submitted proposals, including different concession durations. However, no fixed duration has been established, and all proposals are undergoing thorough evaluation.
Transparency and Due Process
The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development assured that the process will be transparent and adhere to due process.
The Minister, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has directed the inclusion of Aviation Labour Unions in the negotiating teams to ensure transparency.
