Traffic officers of the Lagos State Police Command have been deployed to major locations, including Oshodi Expressway, Maryland, and Allen Avenue, as part of a statewide enforcement drive targeting non-compliance with the mandatory Third-Party Motor Insurance policy* .
The enforcement exercise, which is currently ongoing, aims to ensure strict adherence to the law and reduce the number of uninsured vehicles plying Lagos roads. Defaulters risk facing fines, penalties, or both, with potential charges reaching up to ₦250,000.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, has urged motorists to comply with the regulation and cooperate with enforcement officers. “We urge all motorists to ensure they have valid insurance papers to avoid any embarrassment,” he stated.
The Lagos Police Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all vehicles on the state’s roads are properly insured and has vowed to take stringent actions against those found in violation of the law.
Motorists are advised to secure valid third-party insurance coverage to avoid the fine.
