Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a 25-year-old woman, Nafisa Usman, over her alleged involvement in supplying ammunition to bandits operating across multiple states.
Security sources disclosed that the suspect was apprehended at a motor park in Kano while in possession of 200 rounds of ammunition. The consignment was reportedly transported from Lafia and was en route to Kankara.
According to the sources, the arrest followed actionable intelligence that tracked her movements and activities. Usman, said to be from Zango village in Kankara Local Government Area, was intercepted before she could complete the delivery, allegedly intended for bandits operating within the Kankara forest.
During interrogation, she reportedly admitted to being involved in the illegal trade for about two months. She claimed the ammunition was supplied by an individual identified as “Teso,” who she alleged works in collaboration with a military operative based in Lafia.
Further revelations indicated that she had facilitated transactions worth over ₦5 million through Unguwa Uku motor park in Kano, coordinating shipments to Katsina State.
The suspect also reportedly linked the supplies to a bandit leader known as Mallam Haruna, as well as other individuals identified as Buba and Abu, all believed to be operating within the same forest area.
She added that her involvement in the network began after being introduced by a livestock trader based in Kano identified as Sulaiman.
The operation highlights ongoing efforts by the DSS to dismantle criminal networks, curb the illegal flow of arms, and strengthen national security.
