Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, a renowned mathematician, engineer, and former governor of Oyo State, has died just days shy of his 90th birthday.
His family announced his passing in a statement titled “Victor Olunloyo goes home,” signed by Oladapo Ogunwusi on behalf of the family.
A distinguished technocrat, Olunloyo served as the first Rector of Ibadan Polytechnic and Kwara State Polytechnic, among other notable appointments.
His dedication to public service and humanity has been a source of pride for his family and associates.
Olunloyo was governor of Oyo State during Nigeria’s second republic, serving from October 1, 1983, to December 31, 1983, when the military regime of Muhammadu Buhari took over.
The Olunloyo family has asked for understanding from the press and public as they prepare to give him a fitting burial. His legacy as a respected leader and public servant will be remembered for years to come.
