FBI offers $10,000 reward for fugitive Nigerian-born man wanted for bank fraud

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Olumide Adebiyi Adediran, a 56-year-old Nigerian-born man wanted for bank fraud in the United States.

According to a notice published on its website Wednesday, Adediran allegedly used stolen personal information of U.S. citizens to open fraudulent bank and credit card accounts.

The FBI stated that in August 2001, the suspect entered a bank in Champaign, Illinois, and attempted to withdraw funds from a deposited fraudulent check. He was later charged with federal counts of bank fraud, identification document fraud, and credit card fraud.

Adediran reportedly fled Illinois in December 2001, just before his trial was set to begin. On January 2, 2002, a federal arrest warrant was issued in the Central District of Illinois after he was charged with violating conditions of his release.

The bureau urged anyone with information about Adediran’s whereabouts to contact the nearest FBI office, U.S. embassy, or consulate.
