FCT Police arrest five notorious bandits, recover over 2,000 rounds of ammunition

In a decisive blow against criminal syndicates, operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have captured five wanted bandits and seized a large cache of arms and ammunition linked to their operations.

The arrests, carried out between September 20 and 28, 2025, followed an intensive, intelligence-led manhunt spearheaded by the Commander of the elite Scorpion Squad. The suspects, who had long featured on the wanted lists of the Police and other security agencies for their roles in high-profile kidnappings across the North Central, North West, and North East regions, were tracked to Nasarawa State, where they were apprehended.

According to FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the arrested suspects are:

  1. Abdullahi Garuba a.k.a. Alhaji Ore, male, 40 years
  2. Yusuf Inuwa a.k.a. Alhaji Dabunda, male, 59 years
  3. David Kaika a.k.a. Baba, male, 29 years
  4. Baba Imaji, female, 36 years
  5. Ibrahim Nasiru a.k.a. Pepper, male

2,186 rounds of live 7.62 x 39mm AK-47 ammunition

Two AK-47 rifles with obliterated serial numbers

One locally fabricated pistol with two live cartridges

SP Adeh disclosed that all five suspects confessed during interrogation and will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.

Commenting on the breakthrough, Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, psc, mnips, commended the officers for their professionalism and gallantry. He reiterated the Command’s resolve to rid the FCT and its environs of crime while urging residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information to aid police operations.

“We encourage members of the public to report suspicious movements and activities through our emergency lines to help us respond swiftly and effectively,” CP Adewale stated.

Police confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who remain at large.
