FCTA is new owner of abandoned PDP national secretariat

In a shocking move, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is now the new owner of the abandoned national office of has revoked the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national secretariat in Abuja.

This follows the revocation notice, dated March 13, 2025, which was issued due to the party’s failure to pay annual ground rents for 20 years, totaling from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025.

According to Chijioke Nwankwoeze, Director of Land Administration, FCT, the PDP’s breaches contravene the provisions of Section 28, Subsection 5 (a) and (b) of the Land Use Act.

The notice stated that the property, Plot No. 243 Central Area, Cadastral Zone A00, Abuja, has reverted to the FCTA, and the administration will take immediate possession.

Although it has a temporary office called Wadata plaza, this development has significant implications for the opposition party, which may now face challenges in maintaining its headquarters in the capital. The PDP has yet to respond to the minister’s action.
