In a major shake-up within the Nigeria Police Force, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin, outgoing Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, is set to emerge as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO). His name tops the list of qualified professionals considered capable of managing the image of the Nigeria Police Force.
CSP Hundeyin will succeed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Muyiwa Adejobi, who has been redeployed to the Delta State Police Command following his recent promotion. The transition is expected to take effect in the coming days after an official handover ceremony at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Police authorities described the development as a routine administrative adjustment aimed at career progression and manpower optimization, stressing that it is neither punitive nor controversial.
Profile of CSP Benjamin Hundeyin
CSP Hundeyin brings to his new role a wealth of experience in security operations and strategic communication. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Language from Lagos State University and a Master’s degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
A seasoned communicator, Hundeyin has undergone specialized training in Civil-Military Coordination at the Nigerian Army’s Leadership Institute in Jaji. He is also a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the International Public Relations Association, and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPMN).
His distinguished career includes service with the United Nations–African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), where he gained valuable experience in international peacekeeping and crisis communication.
Since March 2022, Hundeyin has served as the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, earning recognition for his proactive media engagement and efforts to strengthen police-community relations. He succeeded DSP Adekunle Ajisebutu in that role and has since become a respected voice of the command.
Force-Level Communication Leadership
As the new national spokesperson, CSP Hundeyin is expected to spearhead the Force’s communications strategy, promote transparency, and enhance public trust through effective crisis management and strategic messaging.
Meanwhile, DCP Adejobi’s redeployment to Delta State Police Command underscores the Force’s commitment to leadership development and career progression following his elevation in rank.
This transition marks a new chapter in the Nigeria Police Force’s efforts to improve public engagement and image management at the national level.
