The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two octogenarians, an 80-year-old ex-convict and an 82-year-old grandmother, along with several others in a nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking.

Major Seizures
The NDLEA intercepted ₦3.2 billion worth of opioids at Apapa seaport in Lagos and Port Harcourt port in Rivers State. The seizures included 3 million pills of tapentadol and carisoprodol worth ₦2.1 billion and 169,800 bottles of codeine syrup worth over ₦1.1 billion.
Arrests
The agency arrested several suspects, including:
- Ayuba Ashiru, 80, a former convict with a 10-year jail term for drug dealing.
- Mrs. Uloma Uchechi Sunday, 82, and her daughter Chisom Uchechi, 32, for selling methamphetamine, tramadol, and skunk.
- A polytechnic student, Ibrahim Oladimeji Abdulateef, for selling cannabis to fellow students.
- Several others were arrested for trafficking various quantities of drugs.
Other Intercepts
The NDLEA also intercepted:
- 250g of cocaine concealed in female headgear going to Australia.
- An AK 47 rifle and two magazines concealed in a sack of maize.
