Three National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officers have been hospitalized with gunshot injuries after being attacked by armed men during a raid operation in Jahi, Abuja, on Thursday night.
The officers sustained injuries while attempting to leave the scene after recovering a significant quantity of illicit substances.
Raid Details
The NDLEA team had raided an uncompleted building in the NNPC area of Jahi, seizing 74 bottles of codeine, 10 liters of codeine syrup, 48 grams of tramadol, and 4.9 kilograms of cannabis, along with five android phones.
Attack and Injuries
As the NDLEA team exited the location, they came under gunfire, resulting in three officers being shot. The injured officers were initially treated at the Police Clinic in Garki before being transferred to the National Hospital Abuja for further medical attention.
NDLEA Response
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa expressed gratitude to the Police Clinic staff for their prompt assistance and the National Hospital’s Chief Medical Director for overseeing the officers’ treatment.
Marwa assured the injured officers that the agency would work with other security agencies to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
