NLC gives midnight ultimatum to FG over Ajaero’s arrest

The Nigeria Labour Congress has issued a midnight ultimatum to the federal government following the arrest and detention of its president, Joe Ajaero.

The labour leader was arrested at the airport in Abuja on his way to the United Kingdom.

After the arrest, the NLC called a meeting of its leadership where they demanded the release of Ajaero on or before midnight.

They also called for the reversal of the recent increase in petrol price per litre.

Here are resolutions reached by NLC:

Resolution from Monday’s emergency meeting of the NLC following Joe Ajaero’s arrest:

  • The NLC demands the immediate and unconditional release of Comrade Joe Ajaero before 12 midnight today.
  • The NLC also demands the immediate reversal of the current hike in the price of petrol to N617/Litre.
  • The NLC places all its affiliates, State Councils, Civil society allies, and the Nigerian populace on red alert.
  • The NLC summons an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) by 9:00 AM tomorrow, the 10th day of September, 2024
