Police foil Ogun Attorney General’s attempt to free serial murder suspects

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has intervened to stop the Ogun State Attorney General, Oluwashina Ogungbade (SAN), from discontinuing investigations into the murder of Saheed Jinadu Shoboyede.

The suspects, including Elijah Adeogun also known as Killer, were arrested and transferred to Abuja for further investigation and possible prosecution.

This is not the first time Ogungbade has attempted to intervene in Adeogun’s cases.

In January, he issued a Nolle Prosequi to discontinue an earlier murder charge against Adeogun, who was subsequently released from custody.

Human rights lawyer Olayinka Sanni has called for an investigation into the Ogun State Ministry of Justice, questioning Ogungbade’s interest in Adeogun’s cases. Sanni alleged that Adeogun has been linked to multiple murders, with evidence suggesting the use of AK-47s in the crimes.

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has been urged to set up a commission of inquiry to investigate the Ministry of Justice’s handling of Adeogun’s cases.

Sanni emphasized that the governor should “wake up” and take action to address the alleged sabotage of justice in the state.
