Police rescue 516 Katsina kidnap victims, record 300 cases in six months

The Katsina State Police Command has, in the last six months (January to June 2024), successfully rescued no less than 516 abducted victims from their abductors.

The Police, also, during the period under review, disclosed that it arrested more than 500 kidnapped suspects.

Checks in Katsina reveal that weapons used by the terrorists during their heinous crime, rustled animals by bandits were also recovered, and they include – one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), eight AK 47 Rifles, one English pistol, more than 700 rounds of live Ammunition and 2,508 rustled animals in connection with banditry was recovered.

The data also shows that about 300 cases related to banditry were reported to the Police from January to date.

Similarly, about 480 suspects were charged to court. No woman was among the suspects.

During a media interview with the representative of the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, his 2i/c, ASP Shehu S. Funtua, on how many females were among the kidnapped victims, said, “Most of the time, they are in numbers, not gender.”
