Nigeria’s largest street food festival and competition organizers, Sabi Chef has signed respected food blogger and Instagram sensation, Chef Joy Ogbidi aka joy_etor as the event’s ambassador.
In an unveiling that took place in Lagos, the organisers said they could not have chosen a better candidate than Ms Ogbidi who has shown passion and resilience in her work and support for curating Nigeria’s street food for the world to relish.
In a press text made available to newsmen, Shola Ewuola, the CEO of the show revealed that Chef Joy was chosen “due to her street credibility, knowledge of our food culture, versatility with our diverse culinary portfolio and believe in the project”.
“We have a woman who has supported the brand effortlessly since we debuted in our first season last year. She is brave and innovative in her approach to preserving our cultural heritage as Nigerians. She is also far-sighted in recognizing the role our show has come to play in our country’s culinary journey. That’s why we chose her.”
In her new role, the renowned chef will represent the show in all it’s media engagements, create a refreshing new identity for the brand, endear it to the eating public, show-lovers, food producers and other stakeholders in the food & entertainment industry.
Responding, Chef Joy thanked Sabi Chef for the honour and pledged to use her talent to project the show and all of the brand’s content which are airing on @sabichef1 & other social media platforms which will climax into the season 2 grand finale to be hosted later in the year.
“It is with all pleasure that I step into my new role as brand ambassador for Sabi Chef, as a chef and food content creator, being a part of such a project that helps to celebrate Nigerian street food is one that is very dear to my heart,” she said.
“Nigeria is blessed with an abundance of food and our street food is one that brings everyone together and fosters love and togetherness.
In my capacity as brand ambassador I will project the brand’s vision and mission effortlessly to making Sabi chef a household name.”
She drew attention to promotionals currently being produced by Sabi Chef and the excitement it has generated among the people.
The show is currently on the streets promoting the eating culture of Nigerians and the love food enthusiasts have for diverse culinary skills and tastes.
Last year, Chef Joy and Polan were the judges for the maiden edition of Sabi Chef, the street food festival and competition held at the Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Also in attendance during the unveiling were Olufemi Abimbola, Sabi Chef’s legal representative and Lawrence Oisemojie, lawyer to the show ambassador, amongst other dignitaries.
