Singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems has set another record in the Nigerian music scene as she won her first Grammy award in the 2023 category for “Best Melodic Rap Performance,” making her the first Nigerian female artist to win a Grammy award.
At the 65th Grammy Awards edition which held on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Tems, a global music sensation from Nigeria, bagged her first Grammy for her vocal and writing contribution on Future’s popular song “Wait For U” featuring Drake and herself (Tems). This is her first win after four nominations.
Other nominees for the category Tems won were DJ Khaled Featuring Future & SZA (Beautiful); Jack Harlow (First Class); Kendrick Lamar Featuring Blxst & Amanda Reifer (Die Hard) and Latto – Big Energy (Live).
Meanwhile, after the news, Tems was showered with lots of congratulatory messages from fans on social media.
