Dear Obidient Family,
This is a sincere and strategic call to action from an unusual quater. If you truly believe in the vision and leadership capacity of Mr. Peter Obi, then now is the time to move beyond online activism and channel your energy into structured political engagement.
The newly adopted political vehicle the African Democratic Congress (ADC) your leader and others from different political divide have settled for present a golden opportunity once again for him to actualize his political ambition of leading Nigeria as President, you cannot afford to sleep on it.
As an existing party, the ADC is one of the few parties yet to really make its mark by winning elections at various levels, for a party to present itself as a viable alternative It must win seats, govern and show visible alternative. As small as it seems the ADC also has its share of political squabbles.
It also lacks the necessary spread a political party requires to make impact. So it’s adoption by the coalition is a welcome development, and as political tension heats up in the days ahead it is important that you understand this; Peter Obi’s only pathway to securing the party’s presidential nomination will be for you to get involved.
Peter Obi’s success is directly tied to how much influence Obidients can collectively wield within the ADC since he has decided to run under the coalition. This influence starts with registering enmass as members of the ADC, participating in the party’s congresses and ensuring that Obidients hold delegate positions, including key roles at ward, local government, state, zonal and national levels. Obidients must say to themselves “Enough of Watching From the Sidelines”, and understand that the era of staying aloof, only showing up during general elections to vote and turning social media into battleground of insults must end. You cannot claim to be serious about a “new Nigeria” if you fail to do the groundwork that shapes the future of that very Nigeria you so badly want to see.
Politics they say is local, and power is not served A la Carte. If you dont show up and be counted others will fill the vacuum and they may not have your darling Peter Obi’s ideology to give. Why do I even bother telling Obidients what needs to be done some may ask? Well the reason isn’t far fetched. I want to see my candidate President Bola Tinubu, current president of Nigeria shellack their candidate Peter Obi but this can only happen if he is on the ballot.
So Obidents must take the following steps and thank me later:
Go and Register as a member of the ADC, this is the foundation upon which the process stand.
Mobilize others in your community to do the same.
Attend the ongoing congresses, get involved, contest positions, vote for credible delegates.
Support Obi with grassroots strategy, not just hashtags.
Peter Obi cannot be everywhere. But you, the Obidient Movement, can be everywhere.
Let your presence be felt beyond online spaces, let it be seen in every ward, every local government, and every delegate list.
What you’ve built around Peter Obi is a movement, not a fan club. So act like it.
Then when Peter Obi finally secure the ADC presidential nomination, we can now start talking as rivals, for now turn your gaze towards the Atikus, Amaechis, and ElRufais of this world.
Sincerely,
