The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says the Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre has generated over N650 million in revenue just three weeks after its inauguration.
Speaking at a media parley in Abuja on Thursday, July 3, 2025, Wike revealed that the centre, renovated at a cost of N39 billion under his administration, has seen an overwhelming surge in patronage and bookings since its commissioning.
“Let me tell you how this country works. The man they gave the conference centre to before was paying N50 million to the FCT annually,” he said.
“That place was commissioned on June 10, and within just three weeks, it generated N650 million. Why? Because people love quality. People are rushing that place now.”
Wike added that the centre’s transformation has elevated Abuja’s profile as a destination for high-level events, noting that President Bola Tinubu recently hosted ECOWAS heads of state at the venue.
“Go and see the comments from ambassadors. There is no space left. As I speak, it has been booked until 2027,” he stated.
Wike cited the success as proof that public infrastructure, when properly managed and modernized, can yield impressive returns and reposition the capital city as a premier conference and tourism destination.
