Tinubu expected back in Nigeria after 19-day absence

President Bola Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria today after a 19-day “working visit” to Europe.

Bayo Onanuga, special adviser on information and strategy, announced the president’s imminent return in an X post on Monday.

Concerns Over Prolonged Absence
Tinubu’s prolonged absence has raised concerns amid a surge in killings and abductions by gunmen in several parts of the country, notably in Plateau and Benue states.

Opposition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, have criticized the president’s continued stay abroad, citing the worsening insecurity back home.

Presidency’s Response
The presidency has maintained that Tinubu has remained in communication with key government officials since his departure.

According to the presidency, the president left Paris for London over the weekend preceding April 17.
