Late American rapper, Tupac Amaru Shakur, popularly known as 2Pac, is set to be posthumously honoured with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

The Walk of Fame announced on Wednesday that Tupac would receive his star in the recording category.

Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Ana Martinez, stated: “Tupac Shakur was a rapper, actor, activist, poet, and revolutionary. This iconic artist has continued to be part of the zeitgeist for decades after his passing and will continue to be an important cultural figure for many years to come.”

Sekyiwa Shakur, the singer’s sister, will accept the star on the family’s behalf.

Tupac was a victim of gun violence. He was shot and killed in 1996.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has awarded Diamond certification to two of his works: “All Eyez on Me” and his compilation of “Greatest Hits”.

Tupac is one of the most recognisable figures in hip-hop, and his legacy still has an effect on and influences popular culture today. His life has been used extensively for educational reasons in universities and schools around the world.
