X, formerly known as Twitter, has been restored after suffering a global outage that lasted for about an hour on Monday.
Users across several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom and India, had earlier reported being unable to access the platform via both the app and website. During the disruption, timelines failed to load and the site displayed only the company’s “X” logo.
Outage monitoring site Downdetector recorded a sharp spike in complaints, with reports exceeding 25,000 at the peak around 13:00 GMT.
Although service has now returned, the company has not explained what caused the disruption. X did not respond to requests for comment, and it does not operate a public status page to provide real-time updates during outages.
The incident comes just weeks after a similar outage hit the platform. It also follows a series of recent disruptions affecting major internet services, including previous outages linked to Cloudflare, Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS, which have in the past caused downtime across thousands of websites and popular apps.
Neither X nor its owner, Elon Musk, has issued an official statement on the cause of the outage or whether further disruptions could follow.
