Aubrey Graham, Canadian rap star popularly known as Drake, has been ordered by a judge to take a deposition in the XXXtentacion murder trial.

Although the case’s prosecutors did not mention Drake as a possible suspect, one of the accused defense attorneys, Mauricio Padilla, has identified Drake as a person of interest.

Drake and XXX were at odds before he passed away, according to Padilla. The lawyer referred to a February 2018 Instagram post by the “Look at Me” rapper in which he tagged Drake’s account.

The post reads: “If anyone tries to kill me it was @champagnepapi, I’m snitching right now.”

However, XXX deleted the post after reporting that his account had been hacked.

In a document obtained by Rolling Stone, Padilla alleged that “Before X died, he said, “If anybody kills me, it’s Drake,” in his opening statement. Do you think sitting here years later, any detective has ever asked Drake or anybody like that? No.

“This is one of the biggest celebrities in the world. Excluding an order from this court, we all know that I will never be able to take his deposition.”

Following that, Padilla’s plea for an “order to show cause” was approved on Thursday by Florida’s Broward Country Circuit Judge Michael Usan. Drake is anticipated to comply with the order on February 24 by showing up for the Zoom deposition.

He must appear in court on February 27 “so the court can assess why he should not be placed in contempt” if he refuses to show up for the deposition.

Also, Padilla lso filed a deposition from XXXTentacion’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard, who mentioned that a dispute with the rap group Migos was also a topic of concern in the murder.

She claims that on the day of his death, she ordered one of their cousins to go with her son to the motorbike shop “because of the ongoing conflict with Drake and Migos.”

XXXtentacion, named Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, was killed in June 2018 as he left a Florida RIVA Motorsports business by two masked men.

A backpack belonging to the rapper that held $50,000 in cash was also taken by the masked intruders.
