17-year-old boy drowns in Delta community river

A 17-year-old named Clinton has reportedly drowned in a dirty swamp at Owhase, a riverine community in Delta State’s Udu Local Government Area.

According to reports, around noon on Wednesday, Clinton and many other neighbourhood kids went swimming in a swamp without telling their parents.

Reports claimed that Clinton’s friends raised the alarm that he had drowned after they saw that he was no longer visible around them as the young children were preoccupied with their adventure.

Before Wednesday’s tragedy, witnesses, including Clinton’s friends, noted that he could not swim but had been going to the swamp by himself to play all by himself.

However, chaos broke out when the young people hurried home to tell their parents and other community members about the tragic incident.

As a result, a significant number of community members hurried to the dense swamp looking for Clinton.

At the time this report was filed, the corpse of Clinton had not been located, and the incident has left the locals in a state of sadness.

DSP Bright Edafe, the Public Relations Officer for the Delta State Police Command, was not available for comments on the incident.
