A 32-year-old man, Daniel Udoh, who allegedly defiled a three-year-old child has been remanded by a family court sitting in Oke-Eda, Akure, Ondo State on a one-count charge of sexual abuse.
The court ordered that Udoh be remanded at Olokuta correctional centre for sexually abusing and exploiting an infant.
The prosecutor, Martins Olowofeso told the court that the culprit, who is resident at No.5, Alayere Community, Oda Road area of Akure committed the offence in his apartment around 5PM, June 12.
He explained that the victim (name withheld) was lured by the defendant, into his room where he unlawfully took advantage of her and sexually abused the infant.
Olowofeso explained that the defendant was caught red-handed by the victim’s mum, who was drawn to the scene of the crime by cries from the victim.
Narrating, the prosecutor said:
“The victim’s mother, who heard her daughter crying, rushed to the scene and met the defendant molesting the little girl.”
Olowofeso who noted that the offence contravenes Sections 32(a) Child’s Rights Law of Ondo State, 2006 urged the court to remand the defendant pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution’s (DPP).
The defendant however pleaded not guilty, when the charges were read to him.
Folashade Aduroja, the presiding Magistrate ordered the defendant to be remanded at Olokuta correctional facility, pending when the case would come up for mention.
