The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a security alert warning of a grand plot by bandits to attack the Abuja-Kaduna train service soon.
The alert, which was leaked in a memo, reveals that a coalition of banditry syndicates are planning to carry out the attack, with the intention of kidnapping passengers.
The memo signed by DSS Director of FCT Command, R.N. Adepemu, entitled, ‘Security Alert: Impending Threat By A Coalition Of Banditry Syndicate To Attack Abuja-Kaduna Train Service Along AKTS Corridor’, advised passengers to be extra cautious.
Remember that on March 28, 2022, an Abuja–Kaduna bound train was attacked in Katari village, Kaduna which mandated a brief disturbance in the schedule of the route.
The security agency, it was further gathered has alerted the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) about the planned attack; just as they urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the appropriate authorities.
In 2021, bandits attacked a train travelling from the federal capital in Kaduna leaving a number of people dead and others kidnapped.
