The 16th edition of the Headies Awards was held on Sunday at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia with pomp and pageantry.
It was a celebration of Afrobeats music from the North, South, and Western Africa as top artistes from the continent gathered to celebrate the growth of music in the region.
While Burna Boy won the song of the year with his song, Last Last, Asake got the Album of the year award with his Mr. Money With The Vibe.
Ayra Starr got the best female artiste, while Rema also got the nod for the male category. Songwriter of the year award went to Simi for her song, Loyal; just as Asake again got the much coveted Next Rated win.
Furthermore, the best RnB single went to Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran for their collaborative efforts in the song, For my mind.
Best Rap single went to new commer, OdumoduBlvck for Declan Rice, while Waje won best vocal performance for In Between. Wande Cole on the other hand won the same in the male category for Kpe Paso.
Tanzanian superstar, Diamond Platnumz was named best East African artiste of the year, Black Sherif from Ghana was awarded best West African artiste of the year, El Grande Toto from Morocco, best artiste in North Africa; just as Focalistic from South Africa and Labianca from Cameron were named best South African and Central African Artistes respectively.
Rema won the African Artiste of the year award and Selena Gomez was given the International Artiste of the year award.
