Operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) conducted a search at the Abuja residence of Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna State, Thursday.

Muyiwa Adekeye, el-Rufai’s media adviser, confirmed the development, while Ubong Akpan, one of his lawyers, described the search as “unlawful, and a clear violation of legal procedures and fundamental rights.”

The action comes amid an ongoing probe into alleged financial misconduct during el-Rufai’s tenure. He has reportedly been in ICPC custody since Wednesday night, following his release on administrative bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
